Odyssey Logistics has chosen Mecklenburg County as the location for its new global headquarters, bringing over 80 jobs to southwest Charlotte. The logistics and technology solutions company aims to leverage the region's business-friendly environment as it enters a new growth phase.
“Our new home in Charlotte is a mutually beneficial development, both for our organization and for the North Carolina business community, a region that is ideal for Odyssey as we embark on our next chapter of growth,” stated Hans Stig Moller, Chief Executive Officer of Odyssey. He added that Charlotte offers access to a growing talent pool and convenient facilities near an international airport.
The headquarters is situated in the Whitehall Corporate Center, where a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on March 5. Employees have been working in the newly renovated space since February 10. The facility employs 80 staff members, including 43 who were hired locally last year.
Roles at the headquarters span various departments such as executive leadership, IT, human resources, procurement, finance, sales, and marketing. Odyssey provides multimodal logistics services like intermodal transport and warehousing.
Mark Jerrell, Chair of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners remarked: “Odyssey Logistics’ decision to relocate here speaks volumes about the strength of our county as a hub for business, innovation and talent.”
The company's managed services division is located nearby and together with the headquarters employs 155 people. Positions based in Charlotte offer an average salary of $111,000.
Owned by The Jordan Group private equity firm, Odyssey Logistics operates more than 2,000 employees across 82 global locations.
Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles expressed her enthusiasm: "We are pleased to welcome our newest headquarters to Charlotte.” She highlighted how companies like Odyssey underscore why Charlotte ranks highly among cities attracting corporate relocations.
This relocation was facilitated through collaboration between local government entities including Mecklenburg County and economic development organizations. According to Site Selection Magazine’s survey from last year, Charlotte ranks second nationwide for hosting company headquarters relocations.
Recent joint efforts by city and county authorities have resulted in significant capital investment and job creation within the area.
