Mecklenburg County, along with its incorporated communities, is in the process of updating the Mecklenburg County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The update aims to assess changes in risks and vulnerabilities while identifying opportunities for mitigation. This plan update is essential for all communities to remain eligible for pre- and post-disaster mitigation funding from FEMA. It also serves as a tool for understanding community vulnerabilities and developing strategies to reduce risk proactively.

Public participation is a vital component of this planning process. Residents are encouraged to complete a brief public survey by March 31st to share their views on hazard risks and potential mitigation options.

Further details about the plan update can be found on the project website at www.MecklenburgHMP.com. The site provides information on upcoming and past committee meetings, access to the public survey, draft documents, and additional resources.
