Rodney Peete, a former quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, demonstrated his quick reflexes at a baseball game in Japan. Social media buzzed with videos of Peete shielding his wife, actress Holly Robinson Peete, from a foul ball during the Dodgers-Cubs series finale at Tokyo Dome.

Peete concluded his 16-year NFL career with three seasons in Carolina. In 2002, he led the Panthers to a 7-9 record after they finished 1-15 the previous year. He later served as backup to Jake Delhomme through their Super Bowl appearance in 2003 and into the following season.

During a memorable moment against the Buccaneers in November 2003, Delhomme attempted to draw a penalty from Hall of Fame safety John Lynch. Reflecting on that game, Delhomme humorously recounted Peete's advice: "You better slide your ass a little earlier next time because I am not going in that game."

In addition to football, Peete was drafted four times by Major League Baseball teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics.
