Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is set to host Creek Week, an event dedicated to celebrating and appreciating the 3,000 miles of creeks in Mecklenburg County. The event will run from March 22 to March 29 and will feature various educational and volunteer activities suitable for all ages. These activities include stream clean-ups, greenway litter pick-ups, family story time sessions, and fishing lessons.

The highlight of the week-long celebration will be the Big Spring Clean on March 29, where hundreds of volunteers are expected to participate in a city-wide clean-up effort. "Creeks are essential to our community," stated Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services staff. Creek Week aims to enhance community understanding of the importance of creeks and encourage efforts to maintain their cleanliness and safety.

Media representatives have several opportunities to engage with Creek Week events. The kick-off event is scheduled for Saturday, March 22 at 9 a.m. at 2116 Margaret Wallace Rd., Matthews, NC. Another notable event is the Stewart Creek Greenway Stream Enhancements and Constructed Wetlands Opening Celebration on Wednesday, March 26 at 1 p.m., located at 2600 Ravencroft Dr., Charlotte, NC.

For those interested in covering these events or seeking interviews with staff members, RSVPs can be made through Taylor Mebane or Ashley Smith from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services.

Betsy Abraham serves as the media contact for further inquiries regarding Creek Week. She can be reached at 704-249-9779 or via email at Betsy.Abraham@mecklenburgcountync.gov.
