Panthers receiver Adam Thielen, at 35 years old, decided to return for another NFL season. His performance has posed challenges for defenders, including Philadelphia Eagles' defensive back Cooper DeJean. DeJean had an impressive rookie season, earning a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team with notable statistics such as 69 total tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown in Super Bowl LIX.
However, DeJean identified facing Thielen as his "Welcome to the NFL" moment. During Week 14 of the 2024 season against the Panthers, despite the Eagles securing a 22-16 victory, Thielen emerged as the leading receiver with nine receptions for 102 yards. DeJean admitted that Thielen was a tough opponent, stating to Barstool's PMT, "Adam Thielen worked me."
Thielen's impact was significant even though he missed seven games due to injury. He ended the season as the Panthers' leading receiver with 48 receptions for 615 yards and five touchdowns. His decision to continue playing is rooted in his desire to contribute to building something substantial with Carolina.
Thielen expressed his commitment by saying, "When you're part of something... I wanted to be part of building something." He emphasized his wish to see progress and be involved in the team's development.
As Thielen returns for another season, he aims not only to build on his legacy but also potentially give new rookies their own challenging experiences in the league.
