Several seniors at Myers Park High School are doing their part to make up for the vandalism some of their classmates inflicted upon the school as a senior prank.

The prank left significant damage in its wake, and the culprits have been disciplined in accordance with the school's code of conduct, WCNC Charlotte reported.

"I believe this is truly the work of a very small group of people," senior Molly Adams told WCNC Charlotte.

Adams started a GoFundMe page to compensate the custodians who cleaned up the mess soon after it was discovered, WCNC Charlotte reported.

Senior classes often try to come up with some way to make their mark on a school before graduation, and the class of 2022 was no exception.

"There were all sorts of fun ideas that were brewing so I think this was really shocking to everyone when they saw what was labeled as the senior prank and because of those innocent things that I had heard before," Adams said.

Aside from compensating the custodians, the GoFundMe page is intended to show that most students have a deep appreciation for the school and its employees, Adams said.

"We truly do as a class appreciate all the work by all of our administrators and all of our faculty and the behavior that we saw does absolutely not reflect who we are and we are students who value respect," Adams said. "We value kindness and we have so much admiration for all of our staff and especially the custodians who don't get appreciated enough."

The GoFundMe page has already surpassed $5,000, reinforcing Adams' belief that people care enough to make up for the few who did the misdeed.
