The Wells Fargo Championship and the City of Charlotte's Corridors of Opportunity team have announced the launch of an Electric Bike Pilot Program in the McNeel apartments in the N. Graham/N. Tryon Corridor of Charlotte. Thanks to a generous donation of $300,000 from the Wells Fargo Championship, hundreds of new E-Bikes will be provided to residents in the area, improving mobility and increasing access to jobs and opportunities.

Council Member Danté Anderson, representing District 1, emphasized the importance of easy travel throughout the city and praised the initiative, stating, "The e-bikes will create reliable transportation and strengthen connections to the resources residents need to thrive. We are thankful for the Wells Fargo Championship's donation and their partnership with DreamKey to bring accessible transportation to this corridor."

The program, in collaboration with DreamKey Partners, will provide e-bikes to new homeowners in the area, giving them increased access to the community. Additionally, residents of the McNeel Apartments will have access to a dock of e-bikes for free use. Safety training will be provided to ensure that residents are well-informed and comfortable using the e-bikes.

E-bikes are an affordable and sustainable mobility option that will benefit low-income residents by providing an alternative way to access nearby transit services and major employment centers. The three-year pilot program will assess the impact of an e-bike subsidy for low- and moderate-income families and determine if the program should be expanded to other corridors.

Gary Sobba, Tournament Director of the Wells Fargo Championship, expressed the tournament's commitment to supporting the community, stating, "One of our top priorities each year is to touch the community and play a supportive role in the fabric of the community. This year, we are grateful to be able to support DreamKey Partners – a program that carries the same values we do as a tournament."

DreamKey Partners Executive Director Julie Porter also expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its alignment with their mission to revitalize neighborhoods and provide homeowners with resources that support them and connect them to essential services throughout the city.

The Corridors of Opportunity program aims to promote economic mobility and opportunity, create housing access for all, build diverse and resilient communities, integrate the natural and built environment, develop safe and equitable mobility, retain culture and identity, and grow healthy, active, and safe communities.

The launch of the Electric Bike Pilot Program is a significant step towards improving mobility and access to resources for residents of the N. Graham/N. Tryon Corridor. With the support of the Wells Fargo Championship and the partnership with DreamKey Partners, this initiative will enhance the quality of life for many individuals in Charlotte.
