Charlotte Fire Firefighter Recruit Jarvis Harris is scheduled to graduate on March 28, 2024, with Charlotte Fire Recruit Class 124. The Charlotte Fire Department is currently accepting applications for its firefighter recruit program until April 10, 2024.
As stated by Kevin Campbell, "Starting a new career in the fire service is something many people dream about." Becoming a firefighter is a noble and rewarding career choice that allows individuals to make a difference in their community while serving others.
Recruits at Charlotte Fire are paid full-time employees with a complete City of Charlotte benefits package from the first day of recruit school at the Charlotte Fire Training Academy. Once selected for hire and placed into a class, the recruit school lasts approximately six months.
One of the key aspects of being a firefighter is the camaraderie experienced while responding to calls with crew members to protect the community and each other. This bond often leads to lifelong friendships and a sense of belonging within the department.
With opportunities for advancement, entry-level firefighters at Charlotte Fire can explore various special operations areas such as a dive and boat team, rescue crews, hazardous materials specialists, and helicopter-aquatic rescue teams, among others.
"Charlotte Fire’s goal is to seek out highly qualified and diverse candidates to join our world-class organization." The application period for Charlotte Fire’s recruit hiring process will remain open until noon on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Interested individuals can apply online or visit CharlotteFire.org for more information about the hiring process.
