City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services has announced adjustments to its collection schedule in observance of upcoming holidays. On Thursday, November 28, services will be suspended for Thanksgiving Day. Consequently, collections will occur one day later than usual, with Thursday's pickups moved to Friday, November 29, and Friday's to Saturday, November 30. This week is designated as a green recycling collection week.
For the Christmas holiday on Wednesday, December 25, there will also be no collection services. From December 25 through December 27, collections will follow a similar one-day delay pattern. Therefore, Friday customers will have their waste collected on Saturday, December 28. This period is also marked as a green recycling week.
The regular collection schedule resumes during the week of January 1, which is an orange recycling collection week. Additionally, natural Christmas tree pickup starts on January 1. Residents are instructed to place trees at the curb for yard waste collection after removing all decorations and lights. Artificial trees require scheduling for bulky item collection via phone or online services.
Residents can opt-in for text updates about service impacts by texting their service day to 73224; for instance, "Thursday" if that is their scheduled day. The GeoPortal provides information on individual collection days and whether they fall under orange or green recycling weeks.
