The City of Charlotte has issued a warning to residents about a scam related to its on-street parking program, Park It. The scam involves fraudulent text messages that claim to be from the city, informing individuals of an outstanding parking invoice and requesting payment through a link. These messages are not sent by the City of Charlotte and should be ignored.

The official Park It program uses only two methods to notify residents about parking citation charges. The city emphasized that it will never send payment links via text message or request payments through unofficial channels.

Residents who are concerned about potential parking violations can verify any outstanding citations through the city's official Park It web portal. By entering their license plate number, users can view all citations, see related photographs, and either appeal or pay charges directly through the secure online system.

For questions or concerns, residents are encouraged to contact the City of Charlotte's Park It program customer service line at 704-432-7275 (PARK) or visit the Park It webpage.
