The City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services has announced adjustments to its collection schedule due to the Christmas holiday. There will be no garbage, recycling, yard waste, or scheduled bulky waste collection on Wednesday, December 25th, in observance of Christmas Day.
Following the holiday, Solid Waste Services will operate on a one-day delay. Those who typically have their waste collected on Wednesday will have it picked up on Thursday, December 26th. Thursday collections will occur on Friday, December 27th, and Friday collections will be moved to Saturday, December 28th. This week is designated as a green recycling collection week.
For the week starting January 1st, services will resume their regular schedule with an orange recycling collection week. Additionally, natural Christmas tree collection will commence on January 1st. Residents are advised to place trees at the curb for yard waste collection without any lights, decorations, or tinsel. Artificial trees and wreaths should be arranged for bulky item collection by contacting 311 or visiting curbit.charlottenc.gov.
Residents can receive updates about their service by texting their day of service to 73224. For example, if their service day is Thursday, they should text "Thursday" to this number.
