Jaycee Horn, a cornerback for the Carolina Panthers, has reached a significant milestone in his career by being selected for the Pro Bowl. This achievement comes in his fourth season and adds to the legacy of his father, Joe Horn, who was also a four-time Pro Bowler during his NFL career with teams like the Chiefs, Saints, and Falcons.
Reflecting on sharing the news with his father, Jaycee said, "He cried yesterday when I told him... it's been a long journey, a lot of ups and downs." The emotional moment was shared by his family as they celebrated this accomplishment together.
Horn's journey to the Pro Bowl has not been without challenges. His career has seen standout performances marred by injuries. However, this season he demonstrated increased durability by playing over 1,000 snaps in 15 games. Despite having just one interception this year, players across the league have recognized his high level of play.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales commended Horn's perseverance and highlighted the importance of leadership moving forward: "And my high hope for Jaycee is that now that he's got this (Pro Bowl honor), that he can solidify that and then continue to take steps as the leader."
Horn acknowledges the expectations placed upon him both due to his performance and now having a Pro Bowl on his resume. He expressed a desire to further establish himself as a leader within the team: "It's just going out there and earning the respect of your teammates... maybe next year just try to take a bigger step in leading."
As he looks ahead, Horn remains focused on improving: "A lot more work to be put in... I'm really just learning football." With an eye towards future seasons, he aims to build upon this year's success.
