The Carolina Panthers are set to conclude their 2024 season with a game against the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers, under first-year head coach Dave Canales, have seen improvement from last year, doubling their win total to stand at 4-12. Meanwhile, the Falcons hold an 8-8 record and are competing for the NFC South title and a playoff spot.

Despite not making it to the playoffs, Canales emphasizes that this game still holds significance for his team. "We're just making the best decision for Jaycee as if this were any other game," he stated regarding Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn's absence due to injury.

Rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will start for the Falcons. The Panthers' defense faces challenges with key players out but aims to capitalize on its high utilization of cover 3 formations against Penix's strengths.

Running back Miles Sanders remains questionable but hopeful to play after practicing all week. Canales mentioned that Sanders' status would be determined on game day based on his condition Saturday morning.

The Falcons face a setback without kicker Younghoe Koo and will rely on Riley Patterson in his stead. Additionally, stopping Falcons running back Bijan Robinson presents a challenge given his impressive performance since entering the league.

Linebacker Josey Jewell is ruled out due to concussion protocol, leaving Jacoby Windmon and Chandler Wooten responsible for central field duties in Sunday's game.

Canales has emphasized finishing strong throughout the season, regardless of playoff prospects. He praised his team's dedication and resilience: "It's about these guys and the way they've connected in that locker room."

The Panthers aim to end their season positively while laying groundwork for future success.
