The Carolina Panthers have decided to retain Ejiro Evero as their defensive coordinator, despite a challenging season for the defense. Head coach Dave Canales expressed confidence in Evero's ability to lead the defense, stating, "Ejiro will be back with us as our defensive coordinator." Canales emphasized the need for evaluation and improvement in both schemes and personnel as they look ahead.

Canales has a history of working against Evero from their time in the NFC West and believes in his system. The Panthers' defense struggled last season, allowing significant points and yards, but Canales trusts Evero to address these issues. He said, "I know what this defense will look like, and I'm committed to that."

Veteran receiver Adam Thielen is contemplating his future in the NFL. As he approaches the offseason, Thielen plans to evaluate his physical condition and family considerations before deciding whether to continue playing. He shared, "You have to weigh in so many factors as you become an older player in this league."

Thielen finished the season as the Panthers' leading receiver with 62 receptions for 615 yards and five touchdowns despite missing seven games due to injury. While he acknowledges the possibility of retirement, Thielen remains competitive: "I want that ball, so I feel like I can still play at a high level."

In other team news, the Panthers signed ten practice squad members to future contracts. Among them is veteran tight end Jordan Matthews, who transitioned from wide receiver to tight end during his career.

As free agency approaches, several players expressed interest in returning next season. Center Austin Corbett highlighted the positive environment within the team: "Man, I just love it here." Corbett is recovering from an injury but looks forward to potential opportunities with the Panthers.
