The negotiation period for free agents opens on March 10 at noon and closes at 3:59 p.m. on March 12. During this time, teams can engage in contract discussions with free agents' representatives but cannot finalize any agreements. The league year starts at 4 p.m. on March 12, allowing free agents to sign contracts.

Players become unrestricted free agents if they have four or more accrued seasons when their contract expires.
