Solid Waste Services Announces 2023 Summer Holiday Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services has announced its collection schedule for the 2023 summer holidays.

  • Collection crews will provide service on Memorial Day and Fourth of July.
  • Collection service will operate on a one-day delay the week of Juneteenth.
Memorial Day

Solid Waste Services will collect garbage, recycling, yard or scheduled bulk waste on Monday, May 29. Residents should place their collection materials curbside on their scheduled day of collection. It will be a green recycling collection week.  

Juneteenth

Solid Waste Services will not collect garbage, recycling, yard or scheduled bulk waste on Monday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Solid Waste Services will operate on a one-day delay following the holiday, with Friday customers receiving service on Saturday, June 24. It will be an orange recycling collection week.

Fourth of July

Solid Waste Services will collect garbage, recycling, yard or scheduled bulk waste as regularly scheduled the week of July 3 to July 7. Residents should place their collection materials curbside on their scheduled day of collection. It will be an orange recycling collection week. 

Stay in the know

Solid Waste Services offers collection updates via text. Residents who would like to receive updates regarding impacts to their collection service can text their day of service to 73224. For example, if their collection day is Thursday, they would text “Thursday” to 73224.
