Adilson Malanda named to MLS Team of the Matchday for second time this season

Charlotte FC defender Adilson Malanda has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday following his defensive performance in a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls. The 22-year-old Frenchman played the full 90 minutes, contributing significantly to Charlotte FC's playoff aspirations.

Malanda completed a match-high 105 passes and maintained Charlotte FC's undefeated record against the Red Bulls in all-time home competitions. This is Malanda’s second recognition this season; he was previously selected for the Team of the Matchday on February 24 after a shutout and scoring the match-winning goal against New York City FC.

The center-back leads his team in defensive statistics with 69 clearances and 80 aerial duels won, contributing to Charlotte FC achieving the most shutouts in MLS this season.

Charlotte FC will next face Atlanta United on Saturday, August 31st at Bank of America Stadium. With eight matches remaining, four at home and four away, CLTFC continues its playoff push.
