The Carolina Panthers have announced several changes to their roster following recent injuries. Rookie running back Jonathon Brooks has been placed on injured reserve due to a torn right ACL, sustained during the game against the Eagles. This is a recurrence of an injury he suffered last year while playing for Texas.
In response, the team has added wide receiver and return specialist Velus Jones Jr. from the Jaguars' practice squad. Jones, 27, was initially drafted by the Bears and has averaged 26.7 yards per kickoff return over three seasons in the NFL.
Returner Raheem Blackshear's chest injury from Sunday's game is currently being evaluated day-to-day.
Additionally, defensive tackle Sam Roberts has been promoted from the Panthers' practice squad to their active roster, replacing veteran defensive end Deshawn Williams who was waived. Roberts previously joined the practice squad in November after being drafted by the Patriots and spending time with the Bears.
The team also made adjustments to their practice squad by signing veteran wide receiver Trenton Irwin and releasing Dax Milne. Irwin brings experience from his tenure with the Bengals, where he accumulated 46 receptions for 601 yards and five touchdowns over six seasons.
