Major League Soccer (MLS) has released the list of players available for selection by San Diego FC in the upcoming 2024 MLS Expansion Draft. This event is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. PT (10:30 p.m. ET). The draft will be broadcast live on San Diego FC's website and hosted by MLS talents Matt Doyle, Andrew Wiebe, and Calen Carr, with guest appearances from San Diego FC.
Charlotte FC has announced their protected players for the draft. Additionally, Homegrown players are automatically protected from selection.
The offseason roster building activities will continue with the Free Agency opening and End-of-Year Waivers process starting on Thursday, December 12. Stage 1 of the Re-Entry Process will commence on Friday, December 13, followed by Stage 2 on Thursday, December 19. The MLS SuperDraft 2025 is set for Friday, December 20.
San Diego FC is set to become Major League Soccer's 30th club as it prepares its inaugural season roster through this draft process. They can select up to five players from a pool of eligible candidates provided by the league's twenty-nine teams. Each team was allowed to protect twelve eligible players. Once a player is selected from a team's unprotected roster during the draft, that team cannot have another player chosen.
